The Paintings of Tucker Smith - A Celebration of Nature
  • More than 100 high-quality reproductions
  • Autobiographical essay
  • Studies, sketches, and personal photographs

The Paintings of Tucker Smith is a retrospective look at the thirty-plus-year career of the renowned Western painter Tucker Smith. This unique portfolio provides an overview of the artist and his work that is distinct from that experienced in an art museum or a fine arts gallery. The Paintings of Tucker Smith includes more than one hundred, high-quality reproductions of selected paintings spanning the artist's career, as well as studies, sketches, and photographs that offer an illuminating study of the creative process. Much more than a summation of a brilliant career, this fine collection of images is an invitation, an extended gesture of the artist toward friendship and communion.

Inspired by the passion and beauty of nature, Tucker Smith is a master at depicting wildlife and habitat in balanced and subtle compositions. Smith spends time in the backcountry of his beloved Wind River Mountains, in Wyoming, observing nature and gathering subjects. He believes that in nature "one discovers there is color everywhere, including the apparent voids of light trailing off of wildlife or mountains. Good painters are capable of recognizing the difference. I grew up working on ranches, in proximity to the mountains and wildlife, so it was natural to paint vast landscapes of this region."

This elegant book also includes an essay by the artist on his life, work, and views on art and nature, an introduction by John Murray, and a forward by William Kerr.
